Press Release: UFOs, Alien Abductions - A new novel, The Taking, explores the question - Are we alone?

JANUARY 2025

A girl besieged by strange events, a mysterious disappearance, UFOs, alien encounters, and coming to terms with difficult truths. These are the foundational conflicts that make The Taking (Roundfire Books, January 1, 2025, Paperback; IBSN: 978-1-80341-550-5; $16.95) by Dona Masi a chilling paranormal novel that is both suspenseful and thought-provoking. Masi skillfully crafts suspenseful scenes in which the strain and tension felt by the characters threatens to boil over, if not for the father and daughter living unaware of what is really happening to her.

All the while the author poses a fundamental question: How would it affect a person to be a victim of alien abductions? How would it affect you if someone you loved was abducted?

John and his daughter, Vera, grieve the loss of Vera’s mother, who mysteriously disappeared when Vera was a baby. As John struggles to raise his troubled daughter, he dismisses connections between his wife’s disappearance and Vera’s bizarre dreams of otherworldly creatures. But when he finds Vera unconscious, lying in a ring of scorched trees, he begins to believe that a mysterious outside force is controlling her fate and his.

The Taking is a suspenseful story depicting a loving but difficult relationship between a father and daughter, amid the strange events that underlie their everyday life in a small New England town.

Dona Masi has had a lifelong interest in UFOs and the search for other intelligent life in the universe. She has extensive knowledge of many cases of UFO sightings and alien abductions, and she has written a research article about UFO folklore. Her novel The Taking was inspired by stories and reports of UFO sightings and alien encounters.
